Bringing No-Internet/No-Cellular Off-Grid Communication to the Community
WEBSITE IS A WORK IN PROGRESS
MeshCore is an open-source, off-grid, encrypted text-messaging and communication system that uses low-power, long-range (LoRa) radio technology.
It lets people communicate over long distances without cell towers, Wi-Fi, or the internet.
Components of the System
The backbone of the entire system.
Spread throughout the community - Manitowoc and Two Rivers - are small, solar powered repeaters that operate in the 915mhz ISM band.
Standalone blackberry style devices, or bluetooth that connects to an android/iphone app.
Works with iOS, Android, or any Chrome based web browser.
If you've ever used a text or chat app, you will be able to figure this out. It connects to your companion device over bluetooth (or usb, or wifi). Your contact list will grow over time as contacts are discovered.
First off, you need to be in coverage. We are in most of Manitowoc and parts of Two Rivers. Coverage will always grow because anyone can contribute to the growth!
Second, you need a companion device. Recommendations are in the FAQ page. Along with a phone running the MeshCore app.
The name "Manty Mesh" and this website was created with the sole purpose of sharing this information with the community.
We are not a formal organization or group.
Any information about MeshCore, its apps, or firmware can be found on the official website or github. MeshCore official logos, trademarks, copyrights, and all that fun legal stuff belong to them. We are simply a group of tech-oriented community members organically growing this open source infrastructure in our region.
